Our Trousseau Gris comes from 25 year old Russian River Valley vines from Fanucchi Vineyards. About this wine

Trousseau Gris is very rare and not commonly farmed in the United States. This wine has a crisp, clean, flowery bouquet with flavors of fresh peaches, honeysuckle, pear, melon, delicate spice and tropical fruit flavors which makes it a delightful compliment to a wide array of foods!

No one who participated in the blind tasting of this wine guessed the correct varietal. Most said it was similar to a Viognier or Marsanne, some thought it was dry Gewrztraminer and others guessed Pinot Gris with more fruit flavor. Our tasters really loved this wine. Light yellow with small bubbles in appearance, our group found a peach/flower boquet fragrance and taste. It has a natural effervescence that we loved!

About the Vineyard

The Fanucchis planted the Trousseau Gris on Wood Road in 1981. While they used many of the common modern era planting techniques to lay out the new block they combined text book methods along with personal experience about what they knew was right for the area. Maybe the most important thing to know about this vineyard is that it has taken the truly observant and innovative talents of Peter Fanucchi to discover the best methods of care for this variety and coax out its finest flavors because he is the only one farming a little vineyard of it!

Its lineage is from another rare Alsatian grape called Trousseau (red) from northern France so it makes sense that this grape thrives in the cool coastal appellation of Russian River Valley in Sonoma County!
