Technical Data - Nichelini Napa Valley Merlot
Technical Notes - Nichelini Napa Valley MerlotAbout the VineyardSoils on the valley floor are alluvial, loamy, and moderately fertile. The vineyard is between 800 and 1,000 feet above sea level. The soil on the valley floor is made of shallow and porous silty-loam and alluvial fans. By Napa’s standards, the soil is semi-fertile, but not so much so that vineyards over crop. There is a lot of ground water in the region which can be tapped for irrigation as necessary. There are numerous creeks and watersheds that drain the soil of Chiles Valley. About the WineryNichelini is one of California's most historic wineries. Homesteaded in 1884 by Anton Nichelini, a Swiss-Italian immigrant, it is the oldest "continuously family owned and operated" winery in the Napa Valley. Our mission and management philosophy is to specialize in wine production utilizing the Chiles Valley grapes grown by Nichelini’s. Winemaker's tasting notesThis Merlot is an elegant, well-structured wine with intense fruit and a smooth, rich finish. |
